Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - (Unable to connect to world) Friend can't join me and I can't join friend

Wait wait wait... This is a post from August 2018 and the problem is still a really bad problem? I agree that there should be an error message of some sort to show so the user can search a solution. If Java edition was readily available on mobile, I would much rather play that since it's not, I suppose I don't have a choice.

I actually have the same problem. I tried to join my friend's world via Xbox but to no avail. This only happens when I try to play on my Windows 10 copy, not the "Pocket Edition" on my Android Phone. I've been searching for a solution but none seems to work. I tried launching the game on using Bluestacks emulator. (I had to download a pirated APK for testing purposes, I didn't want to login on Play Store to save time.) I then tried to join my friend's world from the emulator and I was able to join.

This is an OK workaround granted that you use a more fitting emulator because the controls are wack on Bluestacks. However, you're gonna have to buy Minecraft from Play Store if you haven't already, which sucks. (You can obviously download a pirated APK but I don't wanna get in trouble for even mentioning it.)

Overall, it's PROBABLY not your or your PC's fault for not being able to join your friend's world. There's a lot of problems that could have been fixed easily, seeing from a developer's standpoint. I really hope Microsoft would fix this issue. Quite disappointing for such a big company. You should go try playing with an emulator if you really insist using mouse and keyboard. I suggest Memu Emulator which served me well in the past.

I found a solution and a fix that 100% works. What I did was I login to my router and looks for something called DMZ and there's a box you have to fill in, inside of that text box, type in your IP address. After that, I checked the NAT type and it was opened. Next part is optional if you're not on windows, go to the windows 10 search bar and type in Windows Firewall. Once the firewall pop up, reset your settings. Next, check your NAT type. It should both be opened. This took me a whole month to figure out. I still got the same problem but after a few weeks I found out that the world was a bit broken and I told him to rejoin and the problem was resolved and I've never get the "Unable to connect to world" error ever again.

First of all, to everyone here, I'm sorry you guys wasted your money. 

The Windows 10 Edition is built with crossplay in mind, meaning that you can pretty much only join Xbox friendly servers. 

If you don't plan on playing on an Xbox or with a friend that's on Xbox, buy the Java Edition. 

Also, I'm really **** pissed I paid almost 30 pounds for 2 Minecraft Win10 Editions codes.

Because it only works with pocket edition. Win10 Edition is only compatible for crossplay with pocket edition. I know because my friend is on java edition and I can't play with him. I had to get a refund of the game to get the copy I want. Win10 Edition is **** and broken to a fault because I have tried joining pocket edition servers and i get the same error. As for the ppl saying if you reset ur network in cmd will fix it. What are you stupid? That only works if its doing it in other games besides Minecraft Win10 edition. Java doesn't have this issue. But yet win10 edition does which means its a coding bug inside Win10 Edition of MC. Only recommended servers work which shows further that it is a coding bug within the game. It has nothing to do with our computers. Its a Conflict with Win10 updates and Win10 MC Edition. Before you give advice make sure you know what your talking about before you dish out solutions. Plus this edition was created by Microsoft not Mojang. Even Microsoft Tech Support/Xbox Support state this when you go to them for help. Because I couldn't even get my refund through microsoft I was redirected to Xbox support which is still Microsoft.
