Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - (Unable to connect to world) Friend can't join me and I can't join friend

Whenever we try to connect to each other's worlds through the Xbox app it says "Unable to connect to world". We can play together on a realms server, and can join other servers, just not each other.

I've changed my NAT type to open, and port forwarded all the required ports for the Xbox app. Still nothing.

I've tried using a VPN to several different countries but still has the same results.

We are both using Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition.

We have both uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, no luck.

    I suddenly met this "unable to connect to world" error, today for the first time ever. My setup had been working for months! Here it is:

    I am playing on an Oculus Go (sideloaded Minecraft GearVR),

    my wife is playing on a Xbox One S.

    We are both connected via wifi to our AC3500 router.

    We both run 1.10.0, I can see her game and attempt to join but stuck at "unable to connect to world".

    Maintaining our game setup over time has been a challenge many times. It really seems like Mojang/Microsoft hates us and is trying to do anything they can to make it as difficult and frustrating as possible. Come on!

    Basically yeah, the game is at a pretty broken state at the moment (not to mention a hotfix was added a couple days ago that messed with worlds because it only released on windows 10 edition) and theres so many problems with the game that i cant even list fully. One of the biggest issues for me and my friends is that his realm randomly started to get very buggy. A few days ago it got so bad that the world gets stuck on an infinite loading screen and eventually crashes. But yeah im also having the exact same issue where no one is able to join my world, although, i can join them perfectly fine.

    The issue still persists even with the Windows 10 version? This is the only game in years that continues to have NAT issues (it appears). Unable to join another host that shows up within home network.
