Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - (Unable to connect to world) Friend can't join me and I can't join friend

Whenever we try to connect to each other's worlds through the Xbox app it says "Unable to connect to world". We can play together on a realms server, and can join other servers, just not each other.

I've changed my NAT type to open, and port forwarded all the required ports for the Xbox app. Still nothing.

I've tried using a VPN to several different countries but still has the same results.

We are both using Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition.

We have both uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, no luck.

    Hey!

I found a solution and a fix that 100% works. What I did was I login to my router and looks for something called DMZ and there's a box you have to fill in, inside of that text box, type in your IP address. After that, I checked the NAT type and it was opened. Next part is optional if you're not on windows, go to the windows 10 search bar and type in Windows Firewall. Once the firewall pop up, reset your settings. Next, check your NAT type. It should both be opened. This took me a whole month to figure out. I still got the same problem but after a few weeks I found out that the world was a bit broken and I told him to rejoin and the problem was resolved and I've never get the "Unable to connect to world" error ever again.

yep - still bad advice. Every other game is better at this. Wasted $30 for something $5 have already solved. For example why are "realms" not included in purchase price, or some other elegant solution. Dumb.

The steps aren't hard, but none of these steps fix the issue.  The rest of my home network accesses online content just fine.  We all game together on other games without issue.  This is the only game where this problem persists, and we can't even get an error message or description of the problem.  This has been months!

We planned on picking up a few more copies of Minecraft for his brother and one of his friends.  Not anymore.

Unfortunately the problem continues to go without a damn solution. I recently downloaded the game again to see if it would work but i did so with no luck. This should not be a problem in this day and age. Especially without a solution.
