windows update

I have mentioned this before, but I was told by a Microsoft  "level 2" tech that sometime this month, MS is supposed to come out with an update which is supposed to correct all of these "update issues" so I decided in mid-April to wait and see if this fix comes to pass.  That is better and way less frustrating than trying different things or waiting endlessly on hold for a chance to speak to a technician.  My computer is still working fine, even though I have had trouble like most of you "fighting" these update issues.  I think right now that I have about 12 updates which have either "failed to install" or are "waiting on a restart'" which doesn't work either.  And that included the Adobe Flash update and a number of KB...blah, blah, blah...updates.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sounds good to me.  There isn't anything wrong with mine except WU.

After trying just about everything I could find, here is where I'm at now.  Notice I deleted previous history.

"Already installed on your computer."

This did not work for me, unfortunately.  I attempted to install Cumulative update KB4088776 and was told that it was already on my computer.  Undaunted, I continued with the rest of the instructions and installed the Delta update KB4093112.  (I had previously tried installing the Cumulative update KB4093112 but that hadn't helped.)  The installation of the Delta seemed to go just fine.  I downloaded it, installed it and was told to and did reboot my laptop.  Nevertheless:

1/I still get nagged about a pending update on a regular basis, and if I restart my laptop it doesn't show that there's an update in process and I get a message that an update failed to install.

2/Checking Windows Installed Update History shows that KB4093112 has not been installed.  There's also an Adobe Flash update that I've tried repeatedly without success to update.

Previous attempts to install these updates included using the Windows standalone installer and the McAfee vulnerabilities utility.  No joy.

All updates prior to April 2018 ran perfectly without errors so I don't think I'm having any driver issues unless something corrupted them.

I gloomily anticipate this being the condition of my computer from now until I buy a new one (a long, long time from now - if ever).
