"Up to date" even though I am running version 1507 (RTM build of Windows 10); how to get 1803 (Redstone 4)?

Well without any real help from anyone, I managed to get a legitimately genuine version of Windows 10 installed on my computer... but it is from a DVD so I am running the first released version of the operating system, and I am trying to update to the latest release. When I run Windows Update, I used to see "Feature Update to 1803" as an available update, but now I don't see it at all and I know for a fact that I am still running Threshold instead of Redstone.

    Now this did not work either, I am using exactly the same build as before.

    ugh

    Mind you, this is a fresh install of Windows 10 as it is, do I need to provide additional information like system specifications or the list of files and software I did download since I installed Threshold?

    (... except I was at work all day so I cannot be certain that it actually installed the build... I don't know...)

    Okay, well that didn't work. I restart the computer to finish getting that update but then it tells me that the system is restoring and I am still using Threshold. *facepalm*

    Okay, well if this update assistant which was linked earlier does me no good, then I will go with the ISO file instead. Really, though, why does updating have to be so complex these days?

    With these major upgrades, the most successful method is to upgrade from the Windows 10 ISO - you download the ISO and then perform an Offline Upgrade

    Click this link:

    to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), then choose ISO

    When the ISO file completes downloading

    Disconnect from the Internet

    Uninstall any 3rd party Anti-virus - this is a known issue with 1803

    Then, double click it and then run Setup.exe to begin the upgrade . . .

    Yes, WIndows Update will push the latest version if it detects you have an older one. It's another way of wrapping all the Updates up into a single package, and you need the latest Versions anyway. So go ahead if you want to receive the latest version that way, just be aware it's not as good of an install as having done it as a Clean Install, or even Upgrading the older version using Media Creation Tool. But you can see how it performs afterwards or if there are issues.
