"Up to date" even though I am running version 1507 (RTM build of Windows 10); how to get 1803 (Redstone 4)?

Well without any real help from anyone, I managed to get a legitimately genuine version of Windows 10 installed on my computer... but it is from a DVD so I am running the first released version of the operating system, and I am trying to update to the latest release. When I run Windows Update, I used to see "Feature Update to 1803" as an available update, but now I don't see it at all and I know for a fact that I am still running Threshold instead of Redstone.

Well here is the system settings dialog screen:

"... you will [not] be able to run the latest version or the version after that."

... even though the emulated build I successfully installed prior to this point is the latest Insider preview and not a stable and targeted version of Windows 10.

Now I check your links to see if I can find more on this.

Here is another place to check for that error code:

    - [0xC1900101](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/upgrade/resolution-procedures#0xc1900101): Information about the 0xC1900101 result code.

First thing to do is find your exact model. You can easily find that in the System info Dialog. You can launch it using the <WIN><Pause/Break> shortcut.

Second thing to do is confirm if Asus says your computer will handle Version 1803:

<snip>The unfortunate reality is, even though you might be able to run a version of Windows 10, it does not guarantee you will be able to run the latest version or the version after that. If you have been making attempts to upgrade without success, you probably need to check the manufacturers website for your computer model to find out if its compatible with the next Update </snip>

    for details on these Versions:

    .  *  Windows 10 Creators Update (1703)

    .  *  Windows 10 Anniversary Update (1607)

Once you confirm that your computer will support the update we can trouble shoot.

Are you doing a clean install using the Windows Media Creation tool, or using the Windows Update feature?

Take a look in Update history to see the update failures have been logged there. Depending on the point in the update process they may not be.

If you do get other error codes we can try to suggest fixes for them.

Well, off the top of my head, I know that I have an ASUS minitower which is 5 years old almost. The exact model I am not sure.

The combination of a fresh installation and few downloads means that the 200GB system partition has plenty of free space for the upgrade. The only things I get from Windows Update now are Defender anti-malware definitions.

I think the RX 570 is the only third-party hardware in the computer, and even then, I don't think that should be the issue either. Other connections include a mouse and ethernet, which are not essential to standard Windows functionality. All of the system's devices, last I checked, are operational.

Windows Defender is the only security software on the PC. If I have to, I will check to see IF there are hard drive disk errors, though I think even the Seagate hard drive works just fine. A clean restart? Maybe, I will check on that as well. Repair system files... well, why? Like I said, new installation.

Oh, and I have actually installed a build of Redstone 5 using an emulated version of this system configuration and had no problems with that.

That error is listed in here...

Get help with Windows 10 upgrade and installation errors

What is the make & model of the computer? It will have a site to check for driver & firmware updates. Also, it may say whether the computer is tested for 1803.
