File System Error (-2147219196) - Can't open photos, groove, calculator...

Updated to Version 1803 OS Build 17134.1

Now cannot open Photos, Groove, Calculator, and I'm sure a bunch of other apps....

Any help would be appreciated.

Open Start, type: powershell

Right click PowerShell

Click Run as administrator



Type the following command then hit Enter, exit PowerShell then restart, then try updating through the Store again.



Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($\_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Check if you can launch the Microsoft Store, then update the apps.

If this does not work, I recommend you attempt a repair upgrade:

    Same issue here, no fix from Microsoft yet. This is why their forced background updates and store apps cannot be trusted.

    Any other suggestions? I have tried everything here- even multiple times in-case I missed something. It's still not working!

    I gave up. Even there is a solution, wasting so much time is pointless. Bunch of replaceable apps in Windows Store are available. I have uninstalled Windows Photos using Windows Powershell. Seeing it there is annoying.

    I chose an app called "123 Photo Viewer" and trying to get used to it. Good luck.

    I also tried everything on the list. Nothing solved the error.

    I downloaded 123 Photo Viewer from the Microsoft Store and it opens my image files fine.

    After trying literally every suggestion...

    Here it is how i got it fixed.

    I installed - iobit unistaller 4.7 free - (probably any similar unistaller will work). 

    I went at windows apps section and remove photos app (along with some other windows apps i never used) . Also make sure you have ticked at settings the Automatically remove residual files option.

    note: windows photos app was about 310mb to be unistalled.

    After finished unistalling i went back on Windows store , re-installed the photo app and only this time it worked as it should.
