Wow I had the problem even after reinstalling Windows, that Dolby Atmos always worked 1-2 weeks with multiple restarts, and then suddenly it didn't let me activate it in Windows anymore without changing anything!
Also strange was, that downloaded Dolby Atmos videos were playing correct with a pass through of Atmos sound but Windows refused to activate it in the system!
Your suggestion worked! I right clicked NVidia Audio drivers under "Audio, Games...", chose to select update driver locally, chose "High definition" instead of "NVidia High definition", ignored the warning, now working again without reinstalling Windows. But the system did not change, NVidia drivers are 1 week old but all of a sudden Dolby Atmos won't work. What a mess. At least I have something to get it working again without reinstalling Windows.
Microsoft, you should look into this. Repeatable across multiple users we are the few that have this setup and the few that are posting about it equaling just about everyone.
Please fix. I've given up trying to fix it on my own at this point. Has not worked at all since my original posting.
Hi AbhinandanGhosh,
How is your Dolby Atmos connected to your computer? If it's connected via HDMI, then please follow these steps to properly configure spatial sound for your home theater:
- On the bottom right-hand corner, right-click the speaker icon and select Playback devices.
- Select your speaker on the list and then click Properties.
- Click the Spatial sound tab, then select the Dolby Atmos for headphones from the drop-down options.
- If you don't have the Dolby Access app yet, the Windows Store will open automatically to download the app.
- Once the app is installed, click the With my home theater option, then click Continue.
- Open the Sound settings again by performing Step 1.
- Under Playback, select your Dolby Atmos speaker, and set it as your default device.
- On the Dolby Access app, click Configure PC settings, then click the Spatial sound tab.
- Under the Spatial sound format, select the Dolby Atmos for home theater option, click Apply, then OK.
Once done, try to check if it's working, and then kindly update this thread with the result so I'll be able to assist you further if needed.
Regards.
