Turn off your motherboard sound card in bios.

Hey guys, since I tried and tried again and the only thing which works is to reinstall Windows for most of us and then waiting for the error to return, I managed to contact the audio team of Microsoft directly. They are also now aware of this and other threads. I showed them what happens if it was working, and stopped working after some time. The dev team is now aware of this issue. I will come back to you if they have something worked out for us. I'm waiting.

Just remember that you may need to cycle through the Music button on your amp remote before Atmos appears. Mine now plays from my HTPC streaming through graphics card HDMI to Denon amp using VLC Player and ARC through to Tv. Also get it off Netflix.

I was able to solve by uninstalling and removing the Nvidia HD audio driver, restarting computer, letting windows load default “hd audio driver”, then restating one more time.

Then i was able to select dolby atmos the app loaded and everything works.

But i get what you mean darkscience, when i load and play shadow of the tomb raider the game sometimes defaults to 7.1, i have to alt tab and reselect atmos to force th game to use it.

I was able to solve this issue by selecting Dolby Atmos for Home theater in the spatial tab in the sound settings menu while audio (a YouTube video) was playing in the background.
