OneDrive automatically deleting files from OneDrive folder

The OneDrive forum appears to have been locked, so I am trying this one.

I moved some large files (photos) to my OneDrive folder to share between PCs and left them synchronising. When I came back to check on their progress, the files had disappeared from the PCs. Looking at the OneDrive window it shows them being added to Onedrive then mysteriously being removed a few minutes later. What on earth is going on? I tried Ctrl & Z to see if it could undo the removal. The files looked as if they were being restored - but just disappeared again. It's a good job I noticed, otherwise I could have lost these files forever. I can't afford to have my important files just disappearing like that.

this BS just happened to me, is there any Microsoft tech here can explain? all the new files were deleted overnight for no reasons at all? not even asking me for approval or anything.

I have similar problems since a couple of years now. I use 1 to 3 computers at work, and 1 laptop and 1 office computer at home. When I save new files on my OneDrive on one computer, then shut it down and open a session on another computer, these files are usually moved to the recycle bin of this second computer. As I don't chain the same way all the time, the content of the recycle bin changes from computer to computer and it is easy to lose track of what is really deleted or not. If I connect to a computer that I did not use since a long time, this can be worse, as OneDrive can create new directories, appending the name of that computer to these directories, then ending up with a fresh copy of these old files.

As noted in one earlier message in this forum question, such a behavior never occurred with Google Drive.

It is very annoying and makes me paranoid about not loosing files and also about gloating my drive with duplicates. The thing is that I don't understand the logic of these deletions / creations. From reading a few of these postings, I suspect that a possible reason is the coexistence of several versions of OneDrive which don't really use the same protocols?

Do you have any folders synced that are also a nested folder in another synced folder? This is the only condition I've found where this problem presents.

Don't know. I read the message (above) describing this situation but could not make sense of it.

Is there a way to display the parents > children relations in my directories?

This just happened to me as well.

I was downloading and printing invoices to pdfs. Some I saved directly into OneDrive storage. Others I downloaded locally to the browser before moving to OneDrive storage. It seems that both types of saving have been removed from OneDrive for some reason.

For any MS techs/programmers reading this:

Relevant System Info:

Win10 - v1909 - Build 18363.1139

MS 365 License: Office 365 GCC G3

SSO is configured through group policy

There are two things that had changed recently that may have affected this.
1. I had been signing into and out of 3 different user accounts and modifying the global admin permissions of these accounts. I had not closed the browsers between sessions.
2. Our network had a minor internet disruption during the time window that I had been downloading and uploading these files.
I'd be happy to support in anyway. Please address this Microsoft.
