This is absolutely frustrating and unacceptable. If they don't fix this soon I am dumping OneDrive.

The OneDrive forum appears to have been locked, so I am trying this one.
I moved some large files (photos) to my OneDrive folder to share between PCs and left them synchronising. When I came back to check on their progress, the files had disappeared from the PCs. Looking at the OneDrive window it shows them being added to Onedrive then mysteriously being removed a few minutes later. What on earth is going on? I tried Ctrl & Z to see if it could undo the removal. The files looked as if they were being restored - but just disappeared again. It's a good job I noticed, otherwise I could have lost these files forever. I can't afford to have my important files just disappearing like that.

2019-05-01T21:43:03+00:00 I have had OneDrive delete my files 3 times, this last time, it was not even in the Recycle Bin. Thankfully I had a backup on another drive. This does NOT make me feel safe at ALL.
What is causing this???

2019-04-17T03:37:16+00:00 Happened to me again today so clearly not fixed. Logged into Cloud OneDrive from my laptop, had to reset my password since it is stored in my browser. Come home to my desktop, log into OneDrive with my new password, all my files are gone on my local drive. OneDrive is downloading over 400GB now. At least I did not lose any files (at least I don't think I did) but waiting for my files to download is a pain.
Happened to me before after a Windows update and took days to finally stop it from deleting my files.
This is a really scary product so I will be disabling it after I get all my files back.

2019-04-07T14:46:03+00:00 deleting my music production files. I have lost tons of work from the last 2 years , onedrive just remove the files, this is crazy, and I have all my family bussiness data synced in onedrive, 11 years of documents and now I have not clue if some files have been deleted.
today this crazy software has send 11 of my .mp3 to the recicle bin.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. Most of my experience of OneDrive comes from the 1TB version one gets with Office 365 subscriptions. I do have a 5GB personal OneDrive that comes with my Microsoft account but I don't use that.

With Office 365 OneDrive, you can get to this screen: https://i.imgur.com/ITbGZMK.png - so you can go back to a point in time. This feature was primarily introduced to combat future occurrences of a virus like Wanncry whereby your documents got encrypted. Once you got rid of the virus, this feature would restore your unencrypted documents. A nice feature but also useful for when you logon to an old computer and it restores long since deleted files. Easy to spot if you know you've done it as the timestamps are all very close. Becomes more difficult if you don't spot it immediately when you have added/edited files after that point in time as you can't just "undo" range of changes - you have to undo everything back to point in time.
I don't know if Dropbox or Google Drive have similar features as I've only got the free versions of those products. But as they don't suffer from this problem of logging onto an old computer (or restore a VM snapshot or drive image) and restoring long deleted files, I've never had reason to look.
