My PC upgraded to Windows 10 Pro version 1803 yesterday during automatic updates. This morning I attempted to view files in my network. Home Group is no longer available in this newest update. It seems in their wisdom they decided it was not needed and provided other solutions to share files/directories. I following the instructions to share files/directories via Windows Explorer. Guess what? You can not share directories only individual files at one time. This is not acceptable. After much trial and error I found a work around. As long as you have the name of the PC in your network you can enter "\PCNAME" and it should give you access. Bring back Home Group to the Windows operating system!

I'm on DirecTV also. So, if I follow the instructions above, will the TV now be able to connect to PC for streaming?
I should have indicated that the PC sees TV rendwrer when I turn on media streaming, but the network (which I access through the DVD player) indicates it can't connect to the internet....
This is the last straw. Not only is my LAN gone, I can't get shared files and folders to show up on any of the other computers on my network. And yes, I've tried everything. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE Microsoft.
I've been using Windows since ver. 3.0 but I'm finished with it now. Linux, here I come. Everything is so much simpler and easier with Mint and they have a new LTS version coming out this month. I'll never give Microsoft another dime. Enough is enough.

In v1803, I am connected to Direct Tv too. Shows in Network folder. But I believe Direct Tv operated through the HomeGroup for streaming with PC's. I am not sure. I only connect to DirecTV Box to internet/network to use the On Demand for downloading On demand programs.
You might be able to use Windows Media Player and try. But you might need to also install Shark007 advanced codec pack or try Windows TV & Movies APP.

Now DVD is a different situation. You are talking about 2 things in one sentence.
And I have Hauppauge HD Capture device that I use to watch live TV and capture on my PC.
Did you try my article and create shortcuts to each pc using
\\PC IP ADDRESS

You need to do this on all PC's on your network. when completed, reboot modem and restart all pc's
You then can not access PC's through the Network folder. You have to through the shortcuts.
If you have changed your network using PaulO's method, then you may have problems.

See my 2 earlier posts on this thread for a fix. My network is 100% back to being fixed after the 1803 update removed Homegroups. I agree, Microsoft really screwed up and Linux is looking better and better.
