HomeGroup is gone in Windows 10 version 1803!

My PC upgraded to Windows 10 Pro version 1803 yesterday during automatic updates. This morning I attempted to view files in my network. Home Group is no longer available in this newest update. It seems in their wisdom they decided it was not needed and provided other solutions to share files/directories. I following the instructions to share files/directories via Windows Explorer. Guess what? You can not share directories only individual files at one time. This is not acceptable. After much trial and error I found a work around. As long as you have the name of the PC in your network you can enter "\PCNAME" and it should give you access. Bring back Home Group to the Windows operating system!

    No surprise there. Microsoft did advertise for months that HomeGroup was being retired. To me, it never worked anyways. Good riddance.

    But now Network doesn't work either. My second computer on my home network...gone, invisible. Computer does not show up no matter what I do, One file at a time, not acceptable. And my Microsoft Account is screwing up as well, password works for one thing, not another. Killed my outlook email on the main computer as it won't sign in to Microsoft with a working password, yet I can sign in just fine directly. This is totally screwed up, ruining things that work from one day to the next.

    It works. I never used HomeGroup, so I didn't have to reconfigure my home network. Which appears you have do. Like untangling the leftover HomeGroup weeds. Rebuild your home folder/file sharing network from scratch. After the 1803 update my home network remained intact and I share with a Linux laptop.

    Finally got the Shared folders from both to show on Computer 2 in its Network, but Comp 2 is showing its name on Comp 1 but won't actually connect to its shared folder, meaning I have to do all the sharing via Comp 2 which still gets the job done. As far as the Outlook on Comp 1, which also relates to Exchange and GoDaddy. Uninstalled Office, Went to GoDaddy and reset the Office365 password, and reset Outlook thee, and then reinstalled Office (2013) on the computer and finally got outlook to get the latest and NOT ask for the MSAccount pw again. Actually didn't get it to do anything, one of those wonderful fixes that you never know what actually did it. Knocking on wood...

    Got a similar problem: computer1 saw computer2, but computer 2 did not see computer1 in my network. Solution: On computer1 look in Services for: Function Discovery Resource Publication, it is probably set to manual, set it automatic en restart the computer1. In my case computer2 saw now computer1
