Windows File Explorer Not Showing Correct Folder Size If Folder Named 'Applications'

It's definitely related to 1803 as I had a backup of files and folders on an external Seagate USB drive which were created before I installed 1803.

After reading this post I created a backup of the exact same files and folders which had not changed since the backup before 1803 and now the properties are different.

This was a previous issue that Microsoft fixed and whatever they have done in 1803, they have created the issue again, so let's get it fixed again Microsoft!!!

I have exactly the same problem: the wrong numbers are for USB disk only. Never had before.

I scanned this string which starts in the beginning of May 2018 and I don't see any response from Microsoft on the resolution of the issue.  It's been 10 months.  I am now having the same issue after I moved from a personal Office 365 subscription (bought through Best Buy) to a business 365 subscription bought through Microsoft.  I am using a Surface Go and a Surface Pro 4.  Both automatically update the OS on a regular basis.  Seems this may be a combination of office version and OS.  Or, maybe the version of file explorer.  I even had the problem on a seagate backup drive.  

One work around that gave me some comfort, but not a solution to comparing folder sizes: you can Right Click on the OneDrive for business Cloud icon in Windows explorer and then click settings.  A window will come up to show the total size of OneDrive.

I've been having this error too since version 1803 as well.  I have just downgraded again from version 1809 where my computer had "kernel security check failure" regularly with 1809.  The same file size and number properties were being misread as well on 1809.

I mostly use Teracopy to transfer and verify files and it reports transfers as being ok but Windows explorer copy doesn't.

I have been copying several gigabytes of data from one drive to another drive several times now and Windows 10 properties reports different number of files, folders and sizes since version 1803.

When I go through the folders individually I see that the files and folders appeared to have copied correctly but windows misreads it as others in this thread have mentioned.

A quick look on the internet and it seems to be mainly Windows 10.  I don't remember any other Windows operating systems doing this.

Last good Windows Operating System was Windows 7.

Windows 8, 8.1 & 10 have got extremely clunky and more confusing in layout in my opinion, everything is hidden away too much, they also crash more in my experience.  I build my computers myself.

Sometimes you must upgrade the firmware on your motherboard...  do not neglect this sometimes becomes an issue with updates!
