Lumia 950XL - Project My Screen not working after Win10 1803 Update - Black Screen

I use my 950XL extensively for demos of my company's software because it's much better display than my iPhone and doesn't need additional apps to do it.

I updated my Win10 desktop today to 1803 and also my phone updated to .104 and the app no longer works.

When I open the app I get the message on the phone to ask if I want to share and I agree. The display on the desktop is black, but I can actually start applications on the phone by clicking inside the black window, so there obviously is a connection, just no display.

I was working perfectly, but not now.

As a workaround, is it possible to use continuum? I'm sure there used to be an option to display the phone's screen rather than a full desktop to the connected display but that appears to be no longer available

Thanks,

Chris

    Did you read the problem?

The clue is in the name ‘Project my screen’.

The point of the app is to display the phone’s screen on the computer display. Whether it displays a dot on the phone screen or not anything that still has a blank screen on the computer is not a workaround.

As for the question about phone versions, that is irrelevant, though I had already said mine is running the latest Win 10 mobile release. The same symptoms occur for older phones with earlier Win10 builds and also 8.1. It’s the Windows update 1803 which has the problem.

Updating the phone drivers does not change anything, as previously stated.

The app worked perectly on previous versions of Windows on the computer (whatever version was running on the phone) but stopped working with the latest 1803 release.

I fully agree. It is definitively a PC Windows 10 ver.1803 bug.

I've tried with my Lumia 640XL ( Win 10 ver. 1703 ) and with a borrowed Lumia 650 ( Win 10 ver. 1709 ). No way to get a phone image on the PC.

I've also unistalled phone driver and the USB drivers on the PC and had Windows to re-install them, at not avail.

This is not a Lumia 950 error

More serendipity.   What version of Windows is on the Lumia and is this W8.1 function still available on it?

You will also be able to use your PC's mouse and touch screen to operate the phone in the Project My Screen App desktop window.</quote>

So, this returns us to the earlier question about pointer display on the phone and its hoped for workaround possibility.

Also, previously a known repair for the current symptom was removing device drivers on the PC.

If you don’t get a prompt on your phone (step 4), and the Project My Screen App remains blank (step 5), then you may have old phone drivers still installed on the PC that need to be uninstalled first.

    Good luck

I have a Lumia 1020 and a Lumia 820, the ProjectMyScreen application doesn't work since Windows 10 1803. With version 1709 and older it works fine.

This is not a Lumia 950 error, this topic should be moved to Windows 10 (1803) bugs.
