Cannot Change brightness after upgrading to 1803 RTM, previously it was fine .

I had to reset windows because on installing build 17127 , it botched. Even in the botched state it had no brightness control.

Now , I don't have it even after upgrading to 17133 or 1803 rtm . 

I have tried  , installing / uninstalling Intel HD graphics driver ( very old , core i3 first gen PC) 

I have installed/uninstalled Monitors >generic PnP monitor drivers .

(monitor.sys ) is the said driver that allows / disallows F2/F3 brightness hotkey , while brightness never changes. Can you give Monitor.sys from an earlier build such that it can be tested , how do I replace the driver.

    Yes this work with my hp ProBook 4520s laptop with core i3-370M.

    How were you able to install that? On my laptop. The Intel HD drivers are from 2012. Installing drivers from 2011 won't even override it. It only accepts the win 10 2012 drivers. It's either that or generic.

    When I get home will try to block these drivers from reinstalling.

    I've installed the old Intel Driver: 8.15.10.2253 over the manual instalation "have driver". This worked fine for the Intel Graphics. It's adjustable again.

    Will this work with hp laptops? I tried installing old win 7 drivers and the drivers didn't install. Was still showing the one win 10 provides. I even tried to manually but it doesn't let me. It only Let's me used the win 10 drivers.

    I even tried windows compatibility mode and no success. It will either use the win 10 Intel HD drivers or standard generic driver.

    I've installed the old Intel Driver: 8.15.10.2253 from Lenovo over the manual instalation "have disk". This worked fine for the Intel Graphics. It's adjustable again.

    There are some compatibility issues with Windows 10 version 1803 and certain hardware or software. There is no explanation why a lot of these problems are happening in Windows 10 1803, but the release is significantly flawed. Software and Hardware that once worked in previous versions, just suddenly stops working in Windows 10 1709 after an upgrade and sometimes loses functionality or stability.

    Have same problem following upgrade to 1803:

    DellVostro 1540.

    Windows 10 Pro – Win 10.0.17134

    Intel Celeron P4600

    Intel HD Graphics Driver 8.15.10.2900

    Reinstalled graphics driver but does not resolve problem.

    Andre, can you advise whether compatibility issues are going to be addressed by a fix any time soon? From what you say, it sounds like this might be a fairly common problem with legacy hardware running 1803.
