Cannot Change brightness after upgrading to 1803 RTM, previously it was fine .

I had to reset windows because on installing build 17127 , it botched. Even in the botched state it had no brightness control.

Now , I don't have it even after upgrading to 17133 or 1803 rtm . 

I have tried  , installing / uninstalling Intel HD graphics driver ( very old , core i3 first gen PC) 

I have installed/uninstalled Monitors >generic PnP monitor drivers .

(monitor.sys ) is the said driver that allows / disallows F2/F3 brightness hotkey , while brightness never changes. Can you give Monitor.sys from an earlier build such that it can be tested , how do I replace the driver.

    http://www.skytopia.com/software/sunsetscreen/ This tool does not adjust the brightness of the LCD panel. This tool only changes the colors on the desktop. The LCD panel is still at maximum brightness. This is not a solution to the problem

    Shame on Microsoft. 

    emachine.com shows 2 VGA drivers for your Model but it sounds like you have been there. 

    I downloaded the utility http://www.skytopia.com/software/sunsetscreen/  from RaymondJE's reply.  Have not had a chance to install it on our Levono, that one may be stuck on 50% so it's at least usable.  If sunsetscreen only adds options to a working brightness control its not going to work.

    Reddit has activity on the issue as well.

    Intel has graphics drivers to match with what processor you have.  I couldn't figure out what generation processor I have, there is help there too, but may not go back far enough to support my (old i3, first generation processor?). You Tube has some help on downloading and installs.

    Crazy out of the box idea may be to physically apply a film tint to your screen,  or plug your laptop into a separate monitor.

    For me, nothing helps on my emachines e730 with i7 620m.

    Please, help me solve the problem. I can not work at maximum brightening :(

    Microsoft certainly wants to withdraw older laptop models from use.

    Thanks for the reply.  I will give it a try.  We also have a Levono Idea Pad P500 in the house, it also has no working brightness control.  Prior to the upgrade I think it was stuck on 50%, and looks like its now at 100%.  I gave feed back to Microsoft, but would be very surprised if our issues get fixed by an upgrade/patch.

    Very surprised?! It is definitely a serious bug in the April update, so not fixing this issue would be a scandal in my opinion.
