I am running Windows 10 on an HP laptop. The last couple of days OneDrive continually says "Signing In" but never gets signed in. It has been fine prior to this. What do I do to correct the problem?

Hi,

I'm Diego Rios, an Independent Advisor willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Please, clear your browsers from cache, temporary files, cookies, etc, Then verified that you place the right credentials and log in to your account. Then follow the procedures in the link below:

  1. Exit OneDrive (right click in the system tray)
  2. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager
  3. Click on "Windows Credentials" (on the right)
  4. Choose the down arrow to the right of "OneDrive Cached Credential"
  5. Choose Edit, and enter your OneDrive (Microsoft Account) Username/Password.
  6. Go to the start menu, and launch "OneDrive" again

This may restore your OneDrive without resetting your local copy.

Alternatively, simply remove the "OneDrive Cached Credential" (there is an option to do so) and let OneDrive start over. The positive side is IF you wanted to move your OneDrive to another location, you'll have the opportunity to do so during the reset. Either way, you will NOT lose your online data.

Please let me know if this helped and works.

Best Regards,

Diego R.

When you said "Reinstall" to get One Drive signed in did you earlier Uninstall the whole thing and re-set up the folder syncing location? The things is that my OneDrive suppose to run on 2 accounts one for Work and the other (grey icon) for personal account. As said before the problem occurs only on the personal One Drive account which is a bummer as well.

I really hope somebody from internal Microsoft tech team could identify what went wrong with the sign-in on personal account.

Yes, uninstalled the whole thing (but didn't change any registry entries), downloaded a fresh, up-to-date copy of One Drive and installed it, and pointed One Drive to where the files were.  In other words, a fresh install.

My problem was the same as yours - work and personal account.  The personal account was greyed out.

I can't recall ever setting up a work account.  I think it may have been while testing another One Drive glitch.  I recall setting up One Drive on another account on my PC which may have been taken to be my "work" account.

    Hi Diego

    I followed your instructions.

When i went into credentials there was a mixed letter and number combination for my username.

Anyway, I edited that and restarted my laptop.

Onedrive did its thing but i went back into word to try to use autosave and still no 'go'. Also tried to use the sign in above the document and still no go - Just takes me back to the sign in page again.

I then deleted the credentials and kick started the laptop - still no go.

In fact, when i went back into credentials and had that combination of numbers and letters in the username section?

    so still none the wiser

    Any ideas

    Thanks

    Ade

    Hi there

It was sometime now so I'm not sure I remember correctly, but I think I finally removed onedrive from my laptop and reinstalled it. No problems since.

    Tomas

This seems to be a recurring problem.  I've tried virtually every solution given except for the "wait several hours".  Nothing works on my laptop except the actual office programs.

This morning I completely reinstalled Office 365.  When I tried to open onedrive it went through setup, starting with the username and password.  Since then the screen has been saying "Loading", but the icon in the system tray still says "not signed in".

When I go to onedrive on my iPad it will open some picture files, but no other files, and I can see from the date that those MS Office files have not been updated for several days now.

I purchased the subscription to Office 365 specifically to get onedrive.  I'm beginning to regret that decision.
