After a few weeks of this (consistently) unnecessary Microsoft debauchery and nonsense in regards to Manual Updates... this is what I learned:
* MS is trying to win the latest-greatest technology race. They need to be more practical and surely more safety oriented. All this technology at once is causing far too many pains as MS attempts to provide to all people; too many people using so many different setups. MS Windows cannot successfully operate cleanly on all of the thousands of various setups on laptops, pc's, etc.
* My number one lesson:
DO NOT ALLOW MICROSOFT ONLINE LIVE CHAT "TECHS" (in India) TO WALK YOU THROUGH ACLEAN INSTALLATION NOR RE-INSTALLATION. I was stupid enough to think they knew what they were doing -- the result being that I LOST EVERYTHING -- A 100% WIPE-OUT OF MY COMPUTER.
I stressed that I had no backup and did not want to lose Personal Files/Folders. The MS Idiot told to do a Clean Installation... and I lost it all. This was after 3 Live Chat sessions online, 2 of which ended in hangups once they were in over heir heads. The 3rd tech setup a phone appointment with their Tier 2 specialists... and that person (3 days late) totally ignored what I said and wiped me out.
Go to your local/regional EXPERT. I should have, because we have a genius in town. So it's also partly my own fault for even thinking of going to Microsoft "techs".
Anyway -- donating this pc to a local needy family and going with NON-WINDOWS systems from here.
