Windows Media Player with wrong Find Album Info link

My Computer just did the latest update then all of a sudden whenever I go into Windows Media Player and go into Find Album Info the Find Album Info Cache link is musicmatch-ssl.xboxlive.com instead of the usual fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com, Can anyone please help me change back to fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com I got a lot of Albums with the wrong information and I need fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com in order to sort everything out.

It's amazing that Microsoft hasn't fixed this. It's a bug that they seemed to have ignored. I found the fix on a different site and it's relatively simple, but you must edit the registry as follows:

  1.  Start regedit.exe

  2.  Navigate to

      "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\TunerConfig"

  3.  Look for setting PREFERREDMETADATAPROVIDER -- it should have a value of "pmpMusicMatch"

  4.  Edit the setting PREFERREDMETADATAPROVIDER, and clear the value so you have a blank value

  5.  Save / exit regedit.exe

  6.  Restart Windows Media Player, you should be restored back to   fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com

    PREFERREDMETADATAPROVIDER is a string value, not a binary entry. I don't what you've done, but you must be in the wrong key in the Registry.

    Since last update of 2019, I'm also experiencing the same issue. I already went back and noticed its blank, I even input feta address and still no luck. Uninstalled Media player and delete the  folder from the registry and installed again, no luck. Still stuck on xbox address. Any help?

    This solution worked for me until I updated to 1809. The musicmatch link has returned even though the value in the registry remains blank.

    Any further help would be appreciated.

    Your answer has fixed my problem a few months back when I first ran into the xboxlive problem that everyone else was having. your answer fixed it.

    However, now a few months later, and I am having this problem again.....Windows must have updated again since then. But this fix can no longer work.

    When i go clear the value, the value has already been cleared since I did it last time already, yet I still have the same problem.

    Can you be of any help one more time?
