Your PIN is no longer available

I am unable to login into my computer (windows 10). I get the message “your pin is no longer available due to a change the security settings on this device. You can set up your pin again by going to settings/accounts/siding options.”  There are no other options for signing in. Does anyone know what to do to login?

Same here, ended up having to hold down Shift key as I clicked Restart from the power icon in corner of log in screen.  Then selected Reset PC/keep personal files.

Same thing happened to me after I did an update today. Had to restore everything without deleting files. Hope it works. It wouldn't sign in with pin, and the password wouldn't work (I'm sure that was the right password).

Just lost a whole day worth of work on something so basic.

An update should not cause this.

Same problem here: just got a Surface laptop (replacement), waited 2 hours for it to install updates and then couldn't log in anymore. It's scary that the entire hardware-software chain is Microsoft and still doesn't work. I mean, how hard can it be, especially since people have been complaining about this A LOT!
