Program or background process popup keeps appearing

For days I've been getting this popup window on my Windows 10 Build 1803 computer:

"The program or a background process quit unexpectedly. Would you like to send information to a developer?"

It occurs intermittently, often every 5-10 minutes, and is EXTREMELY annoying. When I click on it, it disappears with no results but keeps reappearing. I cannot figure out what program is causing this as all programs I use are accounted for. The machine has been scanned several times and there is no sign of virus or malware. There have been no new programs installed and Windows and all drivers are current. It's a total loss to me what this is. 

Anyone have any idea?

If you have System Mechanic on your PC, that is the cause. Go to Settings-ActiveCare-Exceptions and select the hours when you do not wish System Mechanic to run in the background and your problem is solved.

Limiting hours that System Mechanic runs in the background solves the popup message during those times I've chosen not to let it run, but it doesn't solve the problem.  Iolo, System Mechanic's vendor, needs to solve the core issue.  Only then will the problem be truly solved in my opinion.

I ended up turning active care off and doing it manually. It stopped the popup issue but it's not a fix, just a way to live with the problem. An earlier post states that Iolo is aware of the problem and will be addressing it in the next product update. Unfortunately, their updates are few and far between.

Interestingly, I got some relief from the pop ups after uninstalling Malware Killer (from Iolo) until there was another Windows (10) update, and then they started again, although not nearly as frequently. I have not done anything with Active Care -- It continues to run on its own all the time.  I notified Iolo that the pop ups started again after the Windows update just in case that might help them with their (hopefully, eventual) fix.
