Thank you for the confirmation from System Mechanic that they will be fixing this with the next update!  I received a reply from them which offered the option of modifying the Active Care schedule that another user previously provided (see below).  For me, uninstalling Malware Killer seemed to do the trick, so I have not changed that setting.   I let them know this, and also that the pop up started with their last update in mid-August.  

• Open System Mechanic Professional
• Click on the Settings or the gear like icon located at the upper right corner
• Go to Active Care and expand the settings
• Go under Exceptions
• Put a check mark on "Do not run between"
• Set the time wherein the software will not run

I have confirmed with Iolo Technologies that this is a current problem with System Mechanic that they are working to fix. They promise a fix with the next update - no date given. It does no harm but sure is aggravating.

Yep it IS System Mechanic  Same issue on both PC and Laptop and you can trigger the popup by opening System Mechanic.

Only started a few weeks ago. On the Laptop an icon pops up briefly in the tray but as someone said as soon as touch anything goes away.  I wasn't sure what the graphic on the icon was but its System Mechanic.

The ESSEN 916 info in the event log seems unrelated.  On other forums, it has been an unresolved issue since 2017 but folks are just seeing it in the log but not getting the popup as described by most here. 

As is often the case some of us don't have the time to be geeks and try all the more difficult solutions or even going to the extreme of reinstalling Windows.  Usually, it's a simple answer - in this case, appears to be a System Mechanics issue after all else was tried by great folks here until someone came up with the SM which I have confirmed on both my computers. 

It only becomes simple when someone finds it and share with others as on this thread.

 

I agree it is System Mechanic. I started getting the pop up just after installing SM. Also, the poop up (guess I will leave that typo) shows up as soon as I start SM. Will try "Dave in Phoenix's" solution to "Do not Run between" to see if that works, if not SM is out of here.
