Program or background process popup keeps appearing

For days I've been getting this popup window on my Windows 10 Build 1803 computer:

"The program or a background process quit unexpectedly. Would you like to send information to a developer?"

It occurs intermittently, often every 5-10 minutes, and is EXTREMELY annoying. When I click on it, it disappears with no results but keeps reappearing. I cannot figure out what program is causing this as all programs I use are accounted for. The machine has been scanned several times and there is no sign of virus or malware. There have been no new programs installed and Windows and all drivers are current. It's a total loss to me what this is. 

Anyone have any idea?

The newest build of System Mechanic - version 18.02.486 -- released in mid-October 2018 finally puts an end to this most irritating problem.

It appears to be safe to use System Mechanic again.

    Yes I have System Mechanic and am loath to uninstall  it as it is not cheap.  They should fix it.

    I'm having the same issue and it is linked to "iolo's System Mechanic" . I don't want to uninstall because it cost me an arm and a leg. I just ignore it.....

    My point, which I should have made explicit, is that Iolo should issue a real fix so users can benefit without being bugged by the popups. Being a PC Mag editors' choice, they should be more responsive.

    No it's not a fix. And I never said it was.

    Uninstalling Iolo products stopped the popups that occurred often 2-3 times a minute on my computer and allowed me to use my computer in relative peace.

    As the originator of this thread, I refuse to mark any post as a solution until a real solution is found for this problem.
