My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
Will this prescribed installation remove OEM ASUS programs/apps that were installed when I purchased the computer? I presume not as choosing to save my files would only allow the install software to manage Windows 10 files. Would rather ask than assume that answer. Thanks in advance.

Yes, run should be the same as open, but you might have to copy the file to the vista computer & have it install it on the usb key & then put the key in the infected computer & continue. Let me know if it works....
Alt Control Delete, look to the bottom right, and select 'restart' while holding down the 'shift' key which restarts the PC and launches the Advanced Startup Options when it reboots.
Then I chose the "Reset this PC" option and selected the "Keep my files" option.

Thank you for this. My elderly friend's computer (I'm still on Win 7 myself) is Win10 and she lost her desktop completely late last week.
I spoke to a pc repairer who knew of the problem already (had several pc's there to fix) and he suggested a new SSD and transferring the files, which was going to be over $400 (NZ) plus the labour + labour to transfer her old files over.
After much reading here and elsewhere, I tried this fix, by talking her through it on the phone.
Her computer would not do the roll back option, but we did have success with the reset, using the keep your files option. Had to go over last night and reinstall Chrome, MS Office, fix her WiFi connection etc, but everything is more or less back to normal and she still has all her files and documents. We consider this a small miracle, considering we are both quite IT illiterate!
