My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
I followed these steps, but copied by using the Task Manger, New Task...browse function since Windows Explorer won’t work. Then it gave me an “Access is denied.” Anyone
have any ideas?
Same problem here on 17/06/2018. I also had a failed update with a similar result a few months ago (that never actually made it to the desktop, just an error and hard reboot at about 35% of update installation). Luckily windows automatically applied a system restore point during both episodes, but this really is terrible customer service/support. How can I get my money back please? I used to think that you got what you paid for, but actually Ubuntu is now better supported than windows..
Hi did you ever solve this issue as im having the same one.
Not picking up a network connection or anything.
A friend of mine had the same problem. I followed this procedure to solve it. Basically it is generating a recovery USB drive from which Windows will be reinstalled, while keeping your files and applications. You'll need a 8GB empty USB drive for this.
Side notes:
Before I started I wanted to make sure to back up all the data.
By pressing "windows+R" either "cmd" or "powershell" can be started. I used the "xcopy" command to back up all the data on an external hard drive.
I just found out that using "ii ." in Powershell might have started the file explorer, something you might want to try.
When I mounted my external USB harddrive I got the message it was write protected, to unlock the drive, you can follow this procedure.
To make sure you will download the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) you can use the command below in powershell to check what version you need:
"Get-CimInstance Win32_OperatingSystem | Select-Object Caption, OSArchitecture | FL"
