My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

SAME FREAKING PROBLEM! Has there been a fix for it?? I can't seem to find one. What really sucks is that I got a new laptop for Christmas and I can't transfer anything over to it because everything is completely jacked up. I have, word-for-word, the exact same problem as you. This is such a bummer.

I had the systemprofile unable to access error, with the black desktop, and the blinking, minimal task bar with no way to access files.

This solution "worked" in the sense that I now have a working desktop under the new user, and I can access all the files, without having to re-install etc.

BUT it'd be nice to fix the old user profile so I don't have to go through setting everything up again or at least delete it so I can recreate it, as it used my work Microsoft account to login and synch.

Anyone have any experience on how I might be ables to do this? :)

    Hello daibak

Thank you for your advice. I followed it to the letter and recovered the desktop. Problem was that I seemed to be also corrupted and was basically unusable. Having already spent a day and a half trying to resurrect this windows FUBB my time and patience had run out so I did a clean restore.

Now I am restoring all my apps etc, time consuming but I feel like its progress. Microsoft have to stop this practice of unannounced forced upgrades and follow Apples lead. The decision needs to be the customers not the suppliers.

    Regards

The easiest way to copy the files mis to start task-manager (Ctl-Alt-Del)

Run New Task in Separate Memory

Then choose fast copy or any other windows utilities for copying.
