My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
I got the same problem.
This is what I did to fix the problem:
I pressed windows + L to lock the computer
On the lock screen there is the power button icon
Click on it, then hold shift and click on restart
From the recovery menu choose startup repair.

I just had this problem recently and I fixed it, I'm using a Lenovo ideapad 110-15IBR with Windows 10. Do the following
In the logging screen (don't log in) press and hold SHIFT, then while holding SHIFT go click to the power button and press the option restart (still with your finger pressing the shift button) then just wait 3 seconds and let go your finger from the shift button and then the computer goes to a menu that say "Choose an option" that has 3 options: Continue, troubleshoot and turn off your pc, click on the troubleshoot option and then click to advanced options and finally choose system restore.
You might wait for 15 to 30 minutes and then you can have access to your dekstop after you log in, hopefully this can work with you guys the same way it worked for me

One of our clients had the same problem. The problem actually is it is missing the Desktop folder in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile directory. so I just copied the Desktop folder from C:\Users\Username. This is how I did it.
- Firstly, open the Windows Explorer. If you cannot open the Explorer or cannot see the icon for the Explorer, press Windows + R button and it should bring up the Command Prompt, type in explorer and press Enter. It should open the explorer.
- Next, go to C:\Users\Username and copy the Desktop folder.
- Finally, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile directory and paste the Desktop folder over here.
- Restart the machine.
The error should be fixed now. Another way to fix is using Registry Editor, but I think this is the easiest way to fix this issue.
Well it finally stopped flashing and the Desktop folder showed up. But there was nowhere to click to restart. I exited out of the user then restarted. When it came back on still got the blue screen asking about the keyboard then did the try using differect OS. Entered my password then it says have an update for you and is updating again. It's been months and no resolution. Getting so frustrating as its my work laptop :(

Hi I tried your steps. Encountered problems with not being able to access the system profile folder :( guess back to square one for me. *sigh*
UPDATE: it somehow let me and I pasted and it's doing something now... my desktop stuff showing up slowly but flashing lol dunno if that's good or bad thanks will update again once it stops flashing
