My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC

J'ai rencontré plusieurs fois ce problème; la seule solution trouvée est de réinstaller Windows 10 version 1803 avec un support de réinstallation créé pour cette même version (DVD ou Clé USB).
Tous les programmes sont à réinstaller mais les données sont sauvegardées dans le dossier Windows.old
Le dernier PC sur lequel je suis intervenu pour ce problème avait bien Avast, mais rien ne prouve que ce soit lui le responsable (bien que je rencontre de plus en plus de problème causé par cet antivirus)
Si quelqu'un à une solution moins radicale, je suis preneur.

Most of the people who encounter the issue doesn't have other computer to create installation disk/media
Clean install is not really recommended on this issue, got my issue fix by performing Reset (keep all files option)
You can try to access Windows recovery
Hold down either SHIFT key while tapping or clicking on Restart, available from any Power icon. On this case you can only use the Power icon on the sign in screen
Click on Troubleshoot> Reset PC

other options that you can try is to create "Desktop" folder on the location
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile
*just tried this steps and got the desktop icons/files back but other features are still not working
You can open command prompt using the task manager
Type in: cd config\systemprofile
then create Desktop folder by using this command :
MKDIR Desktop
*If you encounter Desktop is not accessible/permission issue you can try this method to modify permission
* make sure that you used a wired connection since wireless/wifi is not working
My computer just updated on the 20th of May and wiped out all of my files. I went into windows old and the folders are there and now empty. I'm livid my business was on that computer and family photos I can not seem to retrieve. I don't know what to do.
I have had pretty much the same experience after updating Windows 10 but with no access to Safe Mode.
I managed to get to a Command Line prompt and then individually copy all my C: files to a USB stick; as you can imagine this took a great deal of time.
I then restored my computer to the factory installed Windows 8.
This morning a neighbour who is much more IT worldly wise than I has had the same problem.
Why has an upgrade gone wrong again and caused so much pain and additional workload ?
