My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
I followed these instructions to do that:
But the install has been stuck on 55% for nearly three hours, whereas the instructions say it takes 1-2 hours for the whole thing. Has something gone wrong?
Totally agree.....I appear to have a completely defunct laptop, with nowhere near the required knowledge levels to attempt my own repair. Why should I have to pay for a fix evidently caused by the latest’ must do’ upgrade from Microsoft.

That's what worked for me. You may have to run the 1803 update more than once though to get it to work. I ended up running it twice. After the second time through, everything was back to normal.
Have repaired 2 pc's this afternoon -
Use another pc to download an ISO image of 1803 & burn to a usb,
then Ctrl/Alt/Del launch Task Manager to run Cmd as administrator & select File Run - browse to Setup on USB & run the install
