My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC

Microsoft really messed up on this one..... I am trying to fix my grandson's computer ..... Minecraft only... nothing else is on it. Microsoft did an automatic update 1803. It totally screwed all computers out there... some irreparable. I called Microsoft, got a girl in the Philippines. She had me do a complete reset EVERYTHING...!! Took 4+ hours. NO WINDOWS .... NOTHIN' .... NADA .... ! I have been working on this ongoing for 10 days. I contacted Microsoft again, got 2 middle eastern guys that simply used automated replie, obviously, not in the states. Then, I think I may have gotten a girl here in the states. She seemed to actually know what she was doing. Reset it again. Didn't work. Now, according to her, I have to purchase a Microsoft DVD to reset the computer. I don't get it. Microsoft screws up our computer, then we have to buy something else from them. I don't think it is much, but, I will try it as a last resort. Otherwise, all I can tell all of you is to get APPLE. I have had my Mac for 2 years .... never a problem. Just clean it up periodically. It is definitely worth the money..!!

I'm having same problem. Anyone find a way to fix this
I have now tried to re-install Windows 10 from scratch.
On a different PC I got the download tool to enable the creation of installation media onto a usb stick.
I then returned to the problem computer and loaded the usb stick. I changed via bios to order of start up so the computer went to the usb stick first. All seemed to go well until I got a message stating I could noot upgrade windows from the usb stick and I should upgrade via the existing installation.
So I started windows and got to the the missing desktop screen. Via task master got to the usb stick and ran windows set up.
Again everything seemed to go well the installation went well including updates that it had downloaded as part of the process. However it got to about 90% and then stated it was reverting to the previous version of windows.
Guess what back to missing desktop!!!
I am running out of ideas.
Help.
I have now tried to solve the problem using the "media creation tool" and running it via taskmaster.
Everything seemed to be working properly when a message popped up.
"There was a problem running this tool." The error code ox80080005 - ox90017 was stated.
I can't find anything quoting that exact number so where do i go from here?
Any bright ideas?
