My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
I had the same issue but I reinstalled windows from a backup I had. That was 5 days ago. I've been trying to update to 1803 so it breaks again and try to find a solution but update goes through every time. try this windows key + R and type cmd.exe, then press Ctrl + shift and enter...command prompt will open and type control userpasswords2 and press enter. Add a new user with admin rights if you want. then press ctrl+alt+del and restart should be on the right bottom side once you click the power icon. log in with new user to see if it works. then restart again and log in with your main user..I hope it works...I've been trying to test but can't get the error again :(
I too am having the same problem. I went to hidden items and there was an icon of a lock. Now, there is no option of hidden items. The audio service is also not running.
I followed these steps, but copied by using the Task Manger, New Task...browse function since Windows Explorer won’t work. Then it gave me an “Access is denied.” Anyone
have any ideas?
Same problem here on 17/06/2018. I also had a failed update with a similar result a few months ago (that never actually made it to the desktop, just an error and hard reboot at about 35% of update installation). Luckily windows automatically applied a system restore point during both episodes, but this really is terrible customer service/support. How can I get my money back please? I used to think that you got what you paid for, but actually Ubuntu is now better supported than windows..
