After update of my windows 10 I got problem Desktop is unavailable

My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network). 

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is 

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible 

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

    I am having the exact same problem as described by the OP.   I ran Windows update this morning, and I have  lost this entire day of work trying to resolve this problem.

    I cannot click on the start button.  I cannot run cortana.  I cannot get windows file explorer to run.

    However, I can use task manager to run powershell and command prompt.  I can see that all of my files are still there. 

    I can connect to my network and the internet via my wired ethernet connection.  I cannot get WiFi to work.  If I knew more  command line interface commands, I could probably remotely connect to other computers on my network to transfer my files. 

    I can also run some command line programs that I have installed on my computer.  Although, since Windows 10 isn't loading correctly, a lot of the drivers these programs need to work correctly aren't available.  

    I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestion on this webpage except for the last one: "Refresh your PC"

    None of those worked.  If I can figure out how to transfer 200 Gb of files via command line interface from the affected laptop to another computer on my network, then I am going to try that refresh your PC option.  If that doesn't work, then I think I will have to reinstall Windows 10.

    Wow same exact problem with my Asus laptop.  It was working fine, then a blue window pops up telling me to update so I clicked on restart now then when I login it gave me this error;

    c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable on windows 10 

    I am using my wife's working laptop and we dare not install the 1803 update but we think this update is being forced.  This is horrible as our family has only 2 laptops and one is now unusable due to this update.  

    Can someone at MS help us?

    my the workaround i suggested above. but you need a 8gb usb drive and internet to do it 

    Hello Kind man,

    Thank you for workaround. I am currently in step -> Wait with patients (Important**).

    I didn't succeeded with explorer.exe, so second flow can be:

    1. Make boot usb-flash
    2. Start laptop -> Win + R -> start cmd.exe from here.
    3. Insert usb-flash.
    4. Enter in command line:
    • to get avaliable drives: "wmic logicaldisk get caption"
    • go to drive (for ex. E:): "E:"
    • run setup.exe: "setup.exe"
    1. Wait till the end of ethernity.
