My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
I had this same issue after running an update. It turns out that the windows update created a new windows profile and then tries to boot to that profile and everything is blank. Nothing worked to restore it to a different point because it was only looking at the new blank windows that the update installed. I had to remove my hard drive and plug it into another computer. after searching quite a bit I found that all my programs and files were located under a file called Windows.old. I backed the files up on a portable hard drive and will have to reinstall the hard drive and just refresh the computer and start off with a fresh windows and blank laptop and then I can load the files back onto the laptop. When transferring files on a seperate computer I found a Trojan virus on a scan. I am guessing it had corrupted some files causing the Windows update not to work correctly.
Yeah, well I'm just glad I have a decent backup system as I was able to restore to the previous day's image in about half an hour over the LAN.
Either they've fixed the dodgy updates or there is an element of luck involved as after restoring the machine to its prior state, I re-ran the update and this time it worked just fine.
I think there is some luck involved; as I mentioned I have three completely identical machines and only one had this issue, and only once.
You are lucky if this is your first disaster - it took 3 weeks, hours and hours of frustration and lots of help to sort out the last update to v1709 for me and here we go again..... is there any way of making Microsoft stop this nonsense?
This is an absolute joke.
Three identical machines, two of which upgraded without issue but the third now essentially useless with this error without following a hugely complex series of steps or doing a fresh install.
I tried reverting to previous version of Windows but it just gives a bland message about this not being possible. None of the various repair options work.
As it happens I have a Macrium image from the day before so I should be able to restore, but what on earth are Microsoft playing at with this?
