My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
Great!! Keep passing on the info-there are still ALOT of people fighting this problem & wiping their computers when they don't have to!!
If you can get to the task manager, start at instruction #10, right click & go from there. I have done this on 2 computers successfully. Also, while in the task manager, at step 15, you can see all your files when you look for your usb key with windows 10 installed on it (must be done on another computer, which can be impossible if you only have one). So if you can get everything ready, & try again, it should work. Let me know if you get it working. I have heard back from several people who said it took several times to get all the steps right, but it work. Good Luck!

Same issue here - having a very difficult time finding solution - Microsoft posted solutions seem to ignore fact that start menu is not working .
As we do not run Avast - problem is not likely related to Avast security saftware
