My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

I have the same problem too. It`s not solved yet, but I find some solution to open some functions like internet and that simpliest one (without using folders and functions of windows but internet browsers).

After starting your win10 and login you should do in task manager (ctrl+alt+del) as follow:

    • find in your "active process" explorer.exe and kill him with a whole tree
    • after that you should  start "explorer.exe" with administrator authorities in label "file/command" in same window of task manager (first sheet)
    • youll see restart of explorer and new desktop with your old labels (it does not absolutely mean that youll have all access to it). But i have a luck with it.
    • next you should install drivers for sound and eventually internet, if you need (from internet or maybe from helper of windows)
    • after that you`ll have a short/broken system but you can do some simple things on it.

Good luck and we`re waiting for solving that crush by Microsoft

    Sincerely Yours,

    Me

I haven't fixed this problem yet because I needed the computer to do work, I couldn't spend anymore time trying to fix it this week.

I have been working around the problem by using command line interface in the command prompt.  Most of the programs I needed do work in the Black Desktop of Death Environment.  (e.g. I can run Google Chrome and microsoft office applications).  So if you can't fix your machine right away, you are not completely SOL when this happens.   But you do need to have a basic knowledge of old school MS-DOS commands.
