My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC

I needed my files/docs intact for an upcoming interview but ALAS!!!
I have been F*^Ked by MICROSOFT ......BIGLY!!!
I followed all the steps carefully , trying different methods to arrive at the least possible damage.
Why Why Why do you have to do this to me NOW!!!
Who do i talk to, who do i sue, Microsoft or Avast!!!.....
I did use their eefing MediaCreationTool1803, downloaded the Win10 Tool to a USB , get it installed via the Task Manager , choose to keep my files and Apps but still got f*&ked!!!
My files are missing/deleted/moved or whatever the h*%l it went.
Why didn't you, Microsoft, warn to backup files or whatever before installing these update.
A painful lesson learnt today.....Always Back Up you files/Apps.
Pity.
If I can summarise this thread so far we have 4 possible solutions:
A - buy a Mac
B - install linux
C - do a clean install of windows without keeping your settings and then reinstall all your programs
D - wait 3 or 4 days and microsoft might come up with a fix that you might be able to install
I have tried the reinstall keeping my settings and this just gets me to the same point - I have also created the missing directory but then it complains of a permissions error.
It seems there MAY be some sort of roll-back option but for now I am stuck with option D as fortunately I do have a range of hardware and while annoying its not mission critical for me.
I do have a laptop with an SSD and my anti-virus is Kaspersky but I struggle to see why either of these would have a great bearing on whether or not this directory would be created or required in the installation process. I would have thought we could have got to the point where updates automatically rollback if they don’t install but clearly that is still some sort of distant dream on the microsoft roadmap. Not impressed.
