My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

Spokento Microsoft technical support. They say wait for 3-4 days & then call them back & they will have a solution/fix.

frustrating that they would not call/mail me back & sounds like this issue is HUGE, given the feedback from their support team.

Any ‘reinstall’ process they are advising against due to the possibility of losing files etc.

I just found this Microsoft post stating that there might be a problem with specific Intel SSD drives. I also read on Reddit it might be connected to anti-malware software from Avast/AVG. I have the same on a HP laptop. Funny thing is that this laptop has a Samsung EVO 850 SSD and is running Windows Defender without third party anti-malware. I'm wondering what is the cause...

Have started the laptop with an installation USB succeeded to roll back to the previous installation but to no avail. Last resolution: reinstall of Windows 10...

FINALLY - fixed my issue; I went out and bought an Apple. After spending well over 20 hours in the last five days trying to solve this issue, I decided the easiest solution was to dump Windows and finally make the move to Mac OS. It's amazing how unresponsive microsoft has been with this issue.

Exact same problem here, my antivirus is AVG as well. If Microsoft can't fix this I'm installing Linux mint and never using Windows again. This is ridiculous.
