My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
Microsoft, anything? This is not an isolated issue and caused by no fault of the users. But your silence is deafening. People are losing time & money because of your error - where is the solution?
I have the same issue as of today 5/18/2018.
Normally I completely disable windows updates because 10 out 10 times my computer gets broken it's because of windows updates, but somehow this new update managed to install even after the service was disabled.
I finally managed to backup my data by using the browse feature under new task of the task manager since the explorer program seems to be missing. I tried searching for corrupt data using cmd and it found nothing.
I've found similar reports like this from windows vista 8 years ago, and none of the suggestions have worked so far.
So I ended up doing a complete reset option. After 10 hours yesterday, I gave up. Thankfully my files are still on the computer however all the apps and settings are gone.
Here's a breakdown of what I went thru;
2. 3+ hours scouring the internet for fixes including checking a ton of user threads on this forum.
3. 2 hours with Microsoft chat support which provided no solution other than the option to reset.
4. 2 hours to do a complete Windows 10 reset.
So in total about 10+ hours I wasted all because Microsoft forced this automatic update/malware/virus onto my laptop.
I did learn with MS chat on how to disable Microsoft Updates which I wanted to share with everyone here
My husband is having the same issue. Problem occurred after installing a "critical" update.
