My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK
Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).
In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access is denied. -OK
Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.
I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Open Windows File Explorer
On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'
C:\users\Default\
Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder
Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder
Restart (not shut sown) your PC
Just to let everyone know that Microsoft is investigating this.
The only fix currently is to uninstall Avast and run an InPlace upgrade.
Well at least I have some things back with this solution. I still have photos and files but all Windows products (word, excel) are gone as is Quicken. Because it is gone it does not recognize my backup files. That sucks! Windows shoyld pay for all this. Bring on the class action lawsuit now.
I have exactly the same issue. One whole day spent with all of this. I was not able to work at all and I have very urgent things that I need to finish by tomorrow. This is the second time that an update from Microsoft has ruined my computer and I will have to pay to fix it again... How can we claim compensation from Microsoft? Hundreds of people, if not thousands, with the same problem.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MICROSOFT!!! RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH A SOLUTION!! WE HAVE NOT HEARD FROM YOU YET... THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!
Problem solved. I was able to recover all data with this method. I lost the apps, but that' ok. WINDOWS running fine now.
