PC won't boot to Windows 10 from SSD

I bought my PC years ago with only a HDD. I added a SSD myself afterwards. When I booted my PC after a hard shutdown/electricity fallout I had only my HDD in BIOS. I then boot from HDD, get an error and let the PC reboot. After a few times the SSD would be recognized in BIOS and I could change the SSD to default.

I got tired of this proccess a few days ago and found a tip to disable the hdd-partition with diskpart. The first time I had a hardreset again (mouse and keyboard froze and pc didn't shutdown with a single press on startbutton), I couldn't do the HDD boot-trick and tried changing the cables from hdd to ssd (ssd in sata1). This didn't help. In diskpart I made the SSD partition active. I now can see the SSD in BIOS, but booting gives an error "An operating system wasn't found.". When I retry diskpart, the partition could be made active again. It seems like this resets..

Bootrec.exe /FixMbr was successful

Bootrec.exe /FixBoot gives no access error (there could be some parts left of a dual boot setup)

chkdsk gives no problems found

Mediatool boot:

  • This PC can't be recovered with start-uprepair.
  • You need to choose which installation of Windows you would like to put back when using Systemrecovery.
  • Reboot, select a operating system and select Systemrecovery. No systemcopy available.

How could I make my pc boot again?

SSD: Kingston SV200 (128GB)

HDD: ST1509DL003-9V (1500GB)

    Hi,

    I am 99% certain that if you are seeing the screen in the link you provided, you\we are wasting our time messing with UEFI Bios...

    If you were running UEFI Bios, this is what you would see... Except for the screen for your machine, instead of ASUS...

    How did you create the newest flash drive... With the create media website, or use a ISO you already had ?

    You should probably unhook your HDD... it will do nothing but cause problems and create confusion messing with two operating systems hooked up at the same time..

    I forgot to ask... Did you ever find settings in your Bios to switch from\choose Legacy or UEFI Bios...

    I didn't found settings for switch from/to UEFI/Legacy.

    I already tried the same steps without the HDD connected to the SATA port.

    fixboot always gives access denied.

    What should be the best way to create a working USB drive for the repair?

    That switch is done in the BIOS.

    Hi,

    That link is to create a Recovery Drive, not installation media, but it should work for a repair... The problem arises when the Recovery Drive is created on a machine that is set up differently than the one on which it is to be used...

    I don't know if that is a problem with your machine or not...

    There have been so many changes made with DiskPart it is really hard to say what is going on...

    Try this... just so we can get a better picture as to what is going on...

    Instead of Gparted, look for Partition Wizard 9.1 bootable ISO...

    A lot of the supposed links to version 9.1 actually redirect to version, which is not bootable... Although you may find where some posted a link to a bootable version that they created..

    I need a picture of the partitions on your SSD and hopefully with the part of the screen that displays whether it is GPT or MBR, and whether it is marked "Active" or not...

    This can be burned to CD with a image burning utility, or put on a flash drive with RUFUS...

    I still am not sure if your machine is UEFI capable... I don' think it is...

    The fact that it recognizes a UEFI flash drive does not necessarily mean that it can run in UEFI...

    The partitions on your SSD and HDD indicate this, and the fact that you can find no options to switch in your Bios all point in that direction...

    As does the missing WindowsBootManager..
