PC won't boot to Windows 10 from SSD

I bought my PC years ago with only a HDD. I added a SSD myself afterwards. When I booted my PC after a hard shutdown/electricity fallout I had only my HDD in BIOS. I then boot from HDD, get an error and let the PC reboot. After a few times the SSD would be recognized in BIOS and I could change the SSD to default.

I got tired of this proccess a few days ago and found a tip to disable the hdd-partition with diskpart. The first time I had a hardreset again (mouse and keyboard froze and pc didn't shutdown with a single press on startbutton), I couldn't do the HDD boot-trick and tried changing the cables from hdd to ssd (ssd in sata1). This didn't help. In diskpart I made the SSD partition active. I now can see the SSD in BIOS, but booting gives an error "An operating system wasn't found.". When I retry diskpart, the partition could be made active again. It seems like this resets..

Bootrec.exe /FixMbr was successful

Bootrec.exe /FixBoot gives no access error (there could be some parts left of a dual boot setup)

chkdsk gives no problems found

Mediatool boot:

  • This PC can't be recovered with start-uprepair.
  • You need to choose which installation of Windows you would like to put back when using Systemrecovery.
  • Reboot, select a operating system and select Systemrecovery. No systemcopy available.

How could I make my pc boot again?

Motherboard: MS-7728

BIOS version: E7728MLN.209

SSD: Kingston SV200 (128GB)

HDD: ST1509DL003-9V (1500GB)

    Hi,

    Yes... that is what the tools in windows do... They give you a "Fresh" installation...

    What I am suggesting is running your installation media from within Windows after the machine is running...

    This works exactly like upgrading to a newer build and keeping everything... It is not exactly "Fresh" because it retains stuff..

    You would want to run this either from the DVD, or with a Virtual Drive and using the ISO...

    If you right click on the ISO you should see something about "Mount"...

    If you don't, select "Open With" Windows Explorer... This will create a temporary Virtual Drive on your computer...

    We need to get the flash drive out of the picture...

    There is a chance that any type of repairs as we mentioned may not fix the boot files, but it should... It needs to restart for the upgrade several times and should create new boot files...

    If you do this, unhook the HDD...

    Hi,

    Yes... either eject the flash drive in This PC, or restart and pull it out the moment the screen goes black...

    I tried it with the ISO mounted and HDD unmounted, but it gives an error code 0x80070002 - 0x200009 "The installation failed in the Safe_OS with an error during PREPARE_ROLLBACK operation".

    But I did forget to remove the USB drive before doing the repair..

    Hi,

    The USB may or may not be part of the problem...

    Any 3rd party Antivirus or malware program might interfere as well...

    Here's what finally worked for me after trying multiple times and multiple ways.

    Unplug all external drives (from what I can gather from a web search this particular reference to 0x80073B92 - 0x20009 has something to do with external drives).

    Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistributions\Download and delete anything in that folder if there is anything there.
