PC won't boot to Windows 10 from SSD

I bought my PC years ago with only a HDD. I added a SSD myself afterwards. When I booted my PC after a hard shutdown/electricity fallout I had only my HDD in BIOS. I then boot from HDD, get an error and let the PC reboot. After a few times the SSD would be recognized in BIOS and I could change the SSD to default.

I got tired of this proccess a few days ago and found a tip to disable the hdd-partition with diskpart. The first time I had a hardreset again (mouse and keyboard froze and pc didn't shutdown with a single press on startbutton), I couldn't do the HDD boot-trick and tried changing the cables from hdd to ssd (ssd in sata1). This didn't help. In diskpart I made the SSD partition active. I now can see the SSD in BIOS, but booting gives an error "An operating system wasn't found.". When I retry diskpart, the partition could be made active again. It seems like this resets..

Bootrec.exe /FixMbr was successful

Bootrec.exe /FixBoot gives no access error (there could be some parts left of a dual boot setup)

chkdsk gives no problems found

Mediatool boot:

  • This PC can't be recovered with start-uprepair.
  • You need to choose which installation of Windows you would like to put back when using Systemrecovery.
  • Reboot, select a operating system and select Systemrecovery. No systemcopy available.

How could I make my pc boot again?

Motherboard: MS-7728

BIOS version: E7728MLN.209

SSD: Kingston SV200 (128GB)

HDD: ST1509DL003-9V (1500GB)

    When I make the 

    • SSD System partition active and HDD hidden+unactive OR 
    • SSD main partition active and HDD hidden+unactive,

    I get the error "can't find element" at fixboot and rebuildbcd.

    Same for SSD main partition active + HDD unactive but not hidden.

    After that I unhooked the HDD again, I was able to repair the pc using the usb drive.

    I hooked on the HDD (still unactive+hidden) and was able to boot to Windows again.

    I then shutted down, removed the USB drive and the OS not found error occurred again.

    With the USB drive plugged in agian, I got the element not found error again.

    The ports in the front are USB 3.0, I now only used USB 2.0 drives.

    The BIOS setting "USB 3.0 Controller" still stands on Enabled.

    I need to find a DVD to test your other suggestion. May those be RW, or better not so the PC couldn't write boot files on it?

    I only have some 700MB CD+R available.

    Hi,

    No... The Boot Drive is supposed to be the main OS partition, The System Partition is where the built in Windows Repair files are stored...

    But you have another one at the end of the drive as well...

    It most certainly wouldn't hurt to make the 549MB partition active, and make the main one not Active and see what happens...

    It is possible the "Repair" placed the repaired boot files on the flash drive as well...

    It is strange that the front USB Ports only work with the installation flash drive... Is it a USB 2.0 or 3.0 Port ?  There is a Bios setting for the USB 3.0 Support also..

    It is possible that the HDD has files that the SSD is looking for, and is getting them from the flash drive instead... I'm thinking\hoping they are someplace other than the OS partition...

    That is why I suggest to hide and make Not Active the OS partition on the HDD for now...

    If it still won't boot properly without the flash drive, Unhide the HDD OS partition, but leave it Not Active...

    Another thing you could try to get the flash drive out of the picture might be to put your installation media on a DVD, and force the repair to put the files on the SSD...

    You could try hooking everything back up like it originally was...

    Just make the SSD OS Partition Active, and the HDD Not Active, and try again...

    Might be best to try a DVD for that also... Less confusion for the Repair functions...

    The SSD has a partition "reserved by the system" of 549mb. Of this 67MB is used by those boot files. Status is None, shouldn't it be active/boot?

    Another try:

    Repaired PC with the USB drive. Didn't removed it yet.

    Reboot works, shutdown + boot works, shutdown works. Then I removed the repair USB drive, boot gives the no OS found error.. I shutdown again, put the repair USB drive in again, and the PC does boot to windows..

    Maybe there are files on the HDD the pc needs to boot?

    There is 1 data partition and 1 recovery (both NTFS). The data one has a folder zBoot (year 2012), System Volume Information (2011, modified 2018-6-29), Boot (2018-7-22, modified 7-24), file pagefile.sys (2018-4-3, modified 2018-6-25), bootmgr (2012-7-10, modified 2009-6-14), BOOTSECT.BAK (2012-7-10), Recovery.txt (2018-7-19, modified 7-23), WinPEpge.sys (2012-7-10).
