State of Decay 2 crashes on startup

In some cases, the game crashes on startup if the computer is not updated. Can you ask your friend if he installed the latest Windows Update on his computer? If not, he can update it first by going to Settings >  Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates. Also, ask him to update his computer drivers as well to make sure that they're not affecting the issue. You can give this link to him on how to update his drivers.

Feel free to give us an update after he performed the solutions we provided.

Of course they release it on the microsoft store platform and not steam :( Microsoft will refuse to patch this or give you any confirmation that they even recognise it as an issue. Instead they will post ridiculous time wasting copy/paste answers and "fixes" that they hope will frustrate you enough that you will just go away. We need them to release this on steam, a company who would have has this fixed in hours. You wonder why your Xbox doesn't have any good exclusives? Microsoft is behind it. They really thought sea of thieves was good? Oh sorry I'm ranting. I hear the pirate version has working patches out, allegedly. So funny if you steal this it works.

I strongly agree with you! As the poster of this question, i have not found a single working solution, the language pack one was just temporary. Microsoft does not give a **** about their games on the microsoft store and when they try to post ANY solution that THEY think works, it never fixes anything. Just like that first replier who was a "microsoft agent" and did absolutely nothing to help. I don't think this question will ever get a solution, Microsoft doesn't even try to help because they don't give a crap about their Windows 10 games, they just release them and forget them. Either wait for a patch, or hope this game releases on Steam, a company that actually cares!

Same. After Patch 1.2, worked perfectly fine before.

I asked my friend, he says he does not want to update to the latest version of windows 10 (version 1803), he currently has the version before the latest (version 1709). The reason why he does not want to update is because he is scared of encountering problems in windows. He is correct and i understand why because i have friends who just updated and encountered multiple problems. I also had problems with the latest version, but managed to fix most of them myself (tech guy). To conclude, he doesn't want to update.

Also, all his drivers are up to date (used remote control to check it for him), including graphics driver, motherboard drivers, etc.

The problem was temporarily fixed by him reinstalling the game. The next day, the game decided to crash on the logo splashscreen again. I am not sure what to do, need help or else im going have to play the game by myself.

Having the exact same problem after the new patch, before it was working fine. Found this in the event log:

Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.17134.1

Tried the following, no luck so far:

Updated windows to latest version

Updated Nvdia drivers

Reset the app, rebooted and reinstalled

Uninstall and reinstall the game completely
