    hello,

thanks for your fast answer and thanks for the way to backup my files, as i already started to backup all my data to external HDD

and here the screenshot you asked about and another one for the BCD data on my pc Right now

and that the Error i am getting right now while booting my pc without Windows USB

about new installation its not bad idea the problem i had issue to re install all my drivers again so if i can recover my old windows that will be great.

and i am thinking if the second windows causing problem while booting to my 1st windows i can format the 2nd windows partition after i recover my data so i will have only one windows on the disk.

    thanks

    HM

edit: btw i remembered now that the volume 0 was formatted as NTFS before i reformat it to FAT32 i hope help you to help me.

2nd edit: while i backup my data i navigated to the missing final C:\Windows\Sysytem32\Config\system and replaced it with the regback files

and then did one more bcdboot code

    • bcdboot D:\windows /s Z: /f ALL

and then restart my pc and boom my windows booted and run normally

and when i get in i formatted part D "second windows" and restarted again and booted even faster this time

any advice to do now so i repair all the cracks happened due all that week of errors ?

    (1) Have you got good backups of your user files? If not, best try to make some now...

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Rescue Files when Windows won't start

Plug in external media. Then enter Notepad at a Command Prompt. In its File menu, select Open. It gives you a mini-File Explorer. Set Notepad to display all file types with its requestor at bottom right...

Copy files to external media just as you would in File Explorer. It may be slow, & you shouldn't try to open any files while doing it. Just copy/paste them from HDD to USB. You may have two Windows partitions having done a dual boot. Check each to see whether your files are there.

    (2) I think you set up a dual boot when you installed Windows into a second partition. It's normally tough to write a BCD line by line, but twice as tough in a dual boot. One thing: The blue screen you posted indicates a UEFI system, but you are putting winload.exe into the BCD. It should be Winload.efi…

I might try once more to see whether the BCDBoot command would generate a proper BCD along with the rest of the boot files. But another thread leads me to believe it won't solve the original boot problem of this thread. If you want to try, post a picture of DiskPart that includes a List Vol & a List Part...

    DiskPart

    List Vol

    Select Disk 0

    List Part

    Exit

    (3) But I think a clean install is really the only solution...

    Clean Install Windows 10

That's really a good thing to do at least once anyway.

    hello PCR,

i had problem running my windows "windows 10 pro" normally (every time i run i go to automatic repair)

after many trials to fix it with my own i couldnt and i had to run the pc at that moment so i installed 2nd version of windows 10 on the 2nd partition and it installed successfully and i had some problem with my drivers so i decided to the give my old version another shot and started to fix it again while searching on the net for any way.

and then i found your solution and decided to try it but unfortunately i formatted my system partition first and then do the rest of your solution but every time i start my pc i get blue screen like this

and i have tried many ways to rebuild BCD using bcdedit

    attrib -h -s C:\boot\BCD
    del C:\boot\BCD
    bcdedit /createstore c:\boot\bcd.temp
    bcdedit.exe /store c:\boot\bcd.temp /create {bootmgr} /d "Windows Boot Manager"
    bcdedit.exe /import c:\boot\bcd.temp
    bcdedit.exe /set {bootmgr} device partition=C:
    bcdedit.exe /timeout 10
    attrib -h -s C:\boot\bcd.temp
    del c:\boot\bcd.tempbcdedit.exe /create /d "Microsoft Windows" /application osloaderbcdedit.exe /set {c0dfc4fa-cb21-11dc-81bf-005056c00008} device partition=C:bcdedit.exe /set {c0dfc4fa-cb21-11dc-81bf-005056c00008} osdevice partition=C:bcdedit.exe /set {c0dfc4fa-cb21-11dc-81bf-005056c00008} path \Windows\system32\winload.exebcdedit.exe /set {c0dfc4fa-cb21-11dc-81bf-005056c00008} systemroot \Windowsbcdedit.exe /displayorder {c0dfc4fa-cb21-11dc-81bf-005056c00008}

and after that the error i am getting have been changed to

"The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.

    File:\windows\system32\config\system

    error code: 0xc0000185"

please help me fix that windows btw the problem originally happened after the system got frozen and i had to restart my pc

now even the new installed windows dont start.

Max, thank you for the information!

It is a very quick and elegant solution.

    Yet, I hit a roadblock.

Specifically, I was able to backup the bootres.dll file as instructed (though the original file is not located in the specified folder tree - it is found in C:\Windows\boot\Resources\ (omit the custom folder)).

I also used my OS Recovery USB drive containing Windows 10 Pro v1709 (don't have one for v1803) when the attempt was made.

    The roadblock?

Initial attempt indicated I didn't not have access rights.

Examination finds that the boot folder is restricted even for built in Administrator.

The only group which has Full Control is the TrustedInsaller. This is also restricted and can't be added to the built in administrator account or any other account.

The built in admin account only has read authority, along with the Administrator group authority.

So, how can I replace the bootres.dll file from the required directory?

    Any ideas?

Thank you again for your help!

(I need to avoid a complete update of my OS, as my download for v1803 shall require at least 5hr to perform, plus all the other MS products now installed.)

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

    Jim
