I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.

It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.

After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.

I would be grateful if someone could please help.

I've also noticed that the continual update/install/ failure cycle is the reason my PC is running like a dog. Found in task manager that  "modern Setup host" is taking around 42% of CPU. Ended the task and my PC was back to it's old self.

JUST NEED TO FIND A WAY OF KEEPING MICROSOFT OUT OF MY PC!

At the end of the day Windows 10 is a guest on my PC -and it's my PC not theirs!

I had a lot of difficulty installing the Windows 10 April Update (version 1803). I tried to install it a few times with no success last night. I tried the Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, which was was a total flop. I tried turning off the firewall which did nothing, restarting after each attempt, ran the Windows Update troubleshooter and got nowhere.

I just kept trying to get it to install from the Windows Update window on my laptop. All totalled, I probably tried 12 times. I even got up at 1 AM to check on the install and it was unsuccessful again. I gave it one more try and went back to bed. Surprisingly this morning I found that it actually installed when I saw a window on my screen that said the Welcome to Windows 10 April Update!

I don't know if it was persistence or what. It was very frustrating. I'm glad I was finally patient enough with it to just let it do it's thing.

I think 1803 problems exist because of failure to install updates during 1709.. Some of my 1709 updates failed to install.. i think it is the reason why i can't upgrade to 1803. :(
