Failure to install Windows 10 April Update(version 1803)

The issues on the innumerable machines are innumerable. This is going to be the undoing of Windows 10.

I've probably given up trying to update from version 1709 to v 1803.

The computer has attempted this update a total of 28 times since May 2018 - failing with the 0xc1900101 or once the 0x80240034 error.

I've tried everything on this thread that I can understand to try, including the iso option, using a USB stick, disabling one of the two graphics cards, disconnecting printers, scanners and USB 3 hubs, but all just failing and wasting my time.

Can't get more than 84% complete before it reboots and undoes the update.

It's had a few stabs at version 1809 in December, without success also.

I can't understand the reason of failures of the update. This computer's a powerful ASUS Z270F rig - it has an i7 7700k CPU - using only Samsung m.2 or Samsung SSD's. It has 32gb of memory and has the latest GTX 1070 NVidia graphics drivers. It's rock stable as a 4k video editing rig.

The oldest software is Office 2007 and main software is Adobe CS6 Production Premium. Anti-virus is Windows Defender.

I'm done with it.

Sometimes you come across a system that just won't allow you to install 1803. I am on such a system right now. Give up and wait for the next version to come out later this year. If you really get frustrated with Microsoft and their inability to upgrade, you can switch to Linux Mint. it is nice and easy to learn, I use that and parrot os. Parrot os gets updated every 6 hours and never misses a beat. Have patience otherwise and hang in there, they will get it fixed sooner or later.

I also gave up early after the newest update came out.  When it comes down to it 1803 essentially corrupted  several files. Due to this problem windows can't proceeded with a full update. best thing to do is what I did. Get a secondary Hard drive. Save all your important stuff to it and do a fresh install. Just be sure to get the Software serial# before you do. Sorry for the problems you are having.

I use Linux Mint and parrot os for penetration testing, and updates come as much as every 6 hours, and never once have I suffered a broken system. I also code with python, so I know the hardships involved in writing code that plays nice with every single machine. But, Linux has it together.
