Failure to install Windows 10 April Update(version 1803)
I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.
It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.
After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.
I would be grateful if someone could please help.

2018-12-07T22:44:50+00:00 Quality control on a system as complex as Windows, that is used on so many different platforms, is a Sisyphean task. Even designing something as simple as a doorstop that would work with every door in existence would make me despair. As a long-time software developer, I sympathize with Microsoft.
That, however, is absolutely no excuse for not giving users the ability to put off installing an update until said user is satisfied that others have had success. I don't usually mind living on the bleeding edge, and I take precautions if I know I'm about to install an update. The current system of force-feeding us updates is stupid and short-sighted.
I couldn't agree more. I was an IBM software engineer (now retired). I learned years ago that as sure as night follows day, software fixes break software systems. Different corporation I know, but same scenario. MICROSOFT please stop force feeding untested software on your customer. BTW "metered connection" keeps them out and Linux has got pretty good these days.
Updated from my Samsung tablet.

2018-12-08T13:53:49+00:00 I was running with this problem for a long time. My computer worked fine before the 1803 update. I went through forums trying to fix the problem. I tried everything suggested. In the end only one thing fixed the problem for me. I found that the 1803 update had corrupted several key files for updating. There was no way to fix it. So in the end I backed up all my pictures, files I wanted to keep, reformatted the hard drive and installed windows 10 all over again. I put it off for so long but it was the only thing that fixed it for me. I will say this though it seems to run smoother if I were to compare it to now VS before the 1803 update. I think the only other way you may get around this issue is to spend a lot of time on the phone with Microsoft support sadly.
