Cappie Smith,
I am replacing my HP with a Dell laptop HP does not let this file download and install either.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.
It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.
After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.
I would be grateful if someone could please help.

Cappie Smith,

I've an older X58 chipset based desktop which is giving 1803 update issue. After pouring through lot of forums finally found the issue with a BIOS setting called "Intel Virtualization Tech for Directed I/O" ... Sometimes named as "VT-d" ... It was enabled in my system for Hyper-V. After disabling that BIOS setting the install succeeded.
Caveat : Hyper-V won't work after you disable VT-d and you can't enable them post the upgrade as that will result in system freeze during boot.
Hope it helps some folks
Is this going to give us trouble with computer locking up since it is having trouble downloading?
Yes, it (wushowhide) stops any actually pending UpGrade you will sign. Maybe in the meantime you should clean the Microsoft Update database as well in your computer, in order to let your OS forget the actually downloading update (Windows Update Troubleshooter: wu170509).
If you want, later you can allow the update of hidden one again by the same tool wushowhide.
I forgot to ask is this update necessary? Or can we tell it not to download and install it?
Microsoft used to stop the security updates for older versions/builds of OS (W10 as well). So I suppose all important updates should be installed because of security of my PC.
Finally got mine updated today after about 20 failures at 86% with Error Code: 0xC1900101-0x4001E.
I wrote a blog about it as it's a bit complicated. I hope that helps some of you.
