Failure to install Windows 10 April Update(version 1803)

I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.

It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.

After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.

I would be grateful if someone could please help.

   Format C: is for dilettants on my opinion. If a Microsoft technician  chooses this extreme solution it means, that they do not know the real cause of the problem.

For teh "format C: "solution you do not need any specialist, only have a good backup.

Ha! I'm not sure it was a format c: as my files were still intact. As it was done remotely  I can't be sure. I watched the actions of level 2 and saw them find rollback in the log and the line above was referring to drivers. I am only guessing but he did mention drivers so I suspect that was the root cause.

My message to Microsoft would be rather than test the drivers half way through a big upgrade please do the test first and inform the user that there is an issue before repeatedly resending the upgrade and eventually destroying the code. 

How about an optional patch/fix for those stuck on 1709 that surveys a pc for  prereqs? After all, they do that before Windows 10 is first installed on a PC.

Hi, there are a number of good suggestions earlier on this thread. Have you tried them and how did you get on. In my case I watched them search the installation log for the word "rollback" as a clue to why it was failing.  

BTW if you set your internet connection to "metered" then microsoft won't keep trying to send 1803 until you are ready.

In the end I was lucky. Lvl2, through the chat feature, did a full install of Windows 10 and I am now at 1803.  Having said that I believe that there are some machines that may never upgrade, which is why I suggested earlier in the thread that they send a prereq test before attempting the upgrade. After all it must do the test during the install in order to fail, branch and rollback.
